Native Plant Learning Garden - February 19th!

Visit Our Happy Block Blog for more details. We need Volunteers to Plant on Feb 19th - 1:00 pm - this will be fun and quick We can pay someone to de-sod, rototill and amend the soil. (This needs to be done at least a few days prior to Feb 19th.) We will need to rent the equipment (unless we can find someone to donate the equipment for a day.) Let me know if you are interested... or if you know someone in our neighborhood who would like to get paid to do this work (or volunteer) A Truck to haul the bare root plants from EMSWCD Native Plant Sale on Feb 19th (10 or 11 am) - EMSWCD is located at 5211 North Williams Ave An open-bed Truck to haul mulch to the site from Mt.Scott Mulch (this can be done whenever you are available.)

Metro District 6 Applications

For those interested... On Jan. 15, 2011, Robert Liberty resigned his position as Metro Councilor for District 6 to become the executive director of the Sustainable Cities Initiative at the University of Oregon. Metro’s charter requires the Metro Council to appoint a new councilor within 90 days after a vacancy is declared. An application process is open beginning Tuesday, Jan. 18, for qualified persons to apply for appointment to the vacant position. Qualified applicants must be registered voters within District 6 for at least one year prior to the appointment. District 6 is located entirely within Multnomah County and includes portions of Southwest, Southeast and Northeast Portland. Check out the metro website for more information and instructions on applying. Applications are due by Feb 9, 2011.

SE Uplift is collecting items to donate to Transition Projects in an effort to provide warmth and basic necessities to community members experiencing homelessness. If you have items you would like to donate, please bring your donations to: SE Uplift, 3534 SE Main Street, Monday-Thursday 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. Jan - February 25th, 2011. Wish List: Hygiene products (any size; unused) · Deodorant · Toothpaste · Toothbrushes · Razors · Shaving cream · Lotion · Feminine hygiene products Linens (gently used is fine) · Blankets · Towels · Twin-sized sheets · Pillows Clothing (for adults; gently used is fine) · Clothing (seasonal, to the extent possible) · Underwear and socks · Shoes · Shoe strings · Belts
