Foster Streetscape Plan headed to City Council & Happy Hour Afterwards!
If you have been following the Foster Streetscape Project, you will probably know that the planning phase of it is just about completed. A final version of the updated plan has been completed and has undergone public review and commenting and it will be discussed at a City Council meeting on Thursday May 29 at 2:00 pm (at City Hall). The plan calls for a lot of improvements to occur on Foster Road, making it a saver, nicer, and friendlier street for people traveling on it, trying to cross it, visit or operate a business on or near it and just in general for all the neighborhoods around it and for the people of Portland.
If you can somehow attend the City Council meeting and are willing to speak in support of the plan that would be awesome. If you can’t make it yourself, but know of others that can attend and would like to make a brief statement in support of the plan; please encourage them to do so! Citizen testimony is typically limited to just 3 minutes per person, and it would be great if City Council can hear from as many different people as possible about the importance of the Foster Streetscape improvements.
It will be very important to show City Council that this plan is broadly supported by the people of Portland and to convince City Councilors to all vote in favor of adopting the plan, and to assure that proper funding will be provided so the improvements can be implemented soon! Assuming the plan will indeed be adopted as hoped for, people from our neighborhoods plan to gather afterwards at O’Malley’s at 6535 SE Foster for happy hour (kids and families welcome), so even if you can’t make it to the City Council meeting, make sure to stop by O’Malley’s later that afternoon (Thursday May 29th) for an informal gathering of neighbors, friends and others.
