Proposed Mural Behind 7-11 on Holgate

This past year The Mt. Scott Learning Center received a grant opportunity to work with a local artist on a new mural on the blank wall facing Holgate Boulevard on the backside of the 7-11 building (formerly, Blockbuster).  Joshua Mead, the project coordinator from Mt. Scott Learning Center has been working on this project to see it through. This large blank wall has been tagged numerous times. The hope of a new mural on this wall will hopefully keep it from being hit with graffiti.
Joshua has been coordinating with the property owner and a local artist on mural designs.  The owner of the building has envisioned a mural with a bridge and flying birds.  These images are just some of what will cover the 980 sq. feet of the wall. The mural must be completed by December 15, 2012.  Permits for the mural are being submitted this week. Joshua is seeking volunteers from the neighborhood who are willing to help with this project.  If you would like to volunteer your efforts please contact Erika Wilson-Palmer at erikatakeabow@gmail.com.
