Neighborhood Elections in May!

The Mt. Scott-Arleta Neighborhood is seeking new members to support the work that is happening in our vibrant neighborhood.

A few of our dedicated board members are taking on new roles, and one has an exciting new life waiting in Alaska (bon voyage, Matt, the treasurer!)

Take a gander below at the positions that will be open in May.
We would love to have you on Board!


Please contact lisa anne (current chair) if you would like to get involved...we will help you ease into your new role.

Open Board Positions:
  • The Treasurer tracks money coming in and out of the neighborhood association and makes financial reports at meetings.
  • The Land Use Chair receives land-use notices from the City and notifies the Land Use 'Group' about neighborhood Land Use issues.
  • The Chair responds to email inquiries, helps put together the agenda, and helps facilitates meetings.
  • The Vice-Chair position supports the Chair with their responsibilities.

    If your curiosity is piqued, there is no commitment necessary to contact us for more information.

    Mt. Scott-Arleta Neighborhood Association Newsletter Story Submission We want to know what's going on in your neighborhood. Do you have news to share? Would you like to see it published on the blog and in our newsletter? Here's how to get the word out... Deadline : Feb 26th (but sooner the better!) EMAIL story/announcement to this email note: Ideally we'd like to include more information in the newsletter, versus a bunch of presentations at our meeting. We hope that this will clear up some room in our agenda, so we can focus on 'getting things done' and getting to know one another on a personal level. (More people receive the newsletter than come to the neighborhood meetings.) Of course we will still have announcements and presentations, but hopefully we can streamline the effort with using the newsletter as an additional tool.     City of Portland Budget Hearing May 17th

    Join Mayor Adams and City Council at the City of Portland Budget Hearing on Thursday, May 17. This is an opportunity to testify about the 2012-13 Mayor’s Proposed Budget and provide your input to City Council. Thursday, May 17, 2012, 6:30-8:30 PM David Douglas High School 1001 SE 135th Ave. Portland, OR 97233 Sign-in at 6:30 PM. Testimony on the proposed Portland Development Commission (PDC) budget begins at 6:30 PM.  Testimony on the Proposed Budget for the City of Portland immediately follows. Testimony will be a maximum of two minutes, based on the number of people testifying.  Testimony order will be by random drawing. If you wish to testify, but your name is not drawn, you can submit comments in writing. Online comments are accepted and can be accessed from the budget website listed below.     Mt. Scott-Arleta Movie in the Park

    Join us Friday night, August 6th for the MSA Movie in the Park at Mt. Scott Park . Pre-movie activities start at 6:30pm. There'll be booths featuring local organizations, food, music and the ever popular Rock Climbing Wall. The movie starts at dusk. Bring a blanket, a picnic and your friends as we celebrate National Night Out. Movie will be The Princess Bride .
